Forza Horizon 4 will have a Crazy Taxi Mode
Microsoft may not have much when it comes to exclusives, but a few of the ones they do have are pretty outstanding. Take Forza Horizon for example. The picturesque racing game has caught gamers like a storm.
The latest entry in the series, Forza Horizon 4, will be shaking things up. Studio art director Benjamin Penrose of the now Microsoft-owned developer Playground Games has confirmed that the game will have new open-world activities, one of which involves taking passengers to their destinations as quickly as possible.
If fond memories of Sega’s arcade hit Crazy Taxi just resurfaced from that last sentence, don’t worry, it’s definitely gonna be like that.
Penrose said, “One of the things that’s brand new is that we’ve added a feature called Horizon Stories. They’re really cool little bite-sized pieces of narrative-based gameplay that will center around certain activities involved in you owning businesses, interacting with certain people.”
“For example, one of them you’ll have a chance to own a taxi company. However, driving a taxi in the real-world is very different from the sort of action in Horizon games, so you can kind of imagine how that ends up. There are a whole bunch of different things like that. There’s one where you’ll also be able to be a stunt driver,” Penrose added.
If you’re still not convinced, Penrose goes on to cite the game as an inspiration for the new mode. He said, “We even do have a story where you take on the narratives that are associated with other racing games, and one of those is based on Crazy Taxi. You can imagine how that ends up as well.”
It’s definitely great to see that Playground Games is still up to evolving their hit racer. Horizon Stories should make the idea of driving around in the games huge open world a lot more fun when you don’t feel like taking on that next major race to progress the story just yet.
