DOOMBLADE is a fast-paced action Metroidvania that follows Gloom Girl, the last of the Gloomfolk, who lives completely alone in the Lowland caves. Lured from her solitude by a mysterious whisper, she discovers DOOMBLADE, a sentient weapon trapped and bound for eons. The newly formed duo of “Doom and Gloom” join forces on a quest to restore the blade’s lost powers and exact vengeance upon the Dread Lords who imprisoned it. The core gameplay revolves around a highly fluid traversal and combat system, wielding the blade allows Gloom Girl to ride through the air, targeting monsters with pin-point accuracy to strike them directly, and slay them with the weapon’s wrath.

As you progress, the sentient sword’s hunger for revenge will drive you to search for demonic shrines built by the long-dead Gloomfolk. Here, you’ll recover devastating abilities like the Doom Drop, Wicked Wind, and the bizarrely named Nightmare Onion to teach your enemies fear. These powers are essential as you fight your way through a variety of interconnecting, cavelike worlds. Your hunt for the Dread Lords will take you from the abandoned halls of Gloomhaunt and the untrusting tribesmen of the New Wilderwood forest, to the hedonistic shroom people of the Molded Mines, and ultimately into the technological hellscape known as the Power Sector.
