Coming this October 6, SAO: Last Recollection is coming 3 years after SAO: Alicization Lycoris. This particular franchise was born from the pen of the light novel writer Reki Kawahara, which then boomed thanks to the manga and the anime adaptation.

Gathering a solid community, the series revolved around Kirigaya Kazuto, known as Kirito, and his involvement in the VRMMORPG fantasy world with various chapters and virtual worlds following his adventures.

Story

 

The game follows the events of the Alicization – War of Underworld , the latest anime series. But unlike previous games which were for the most part 1:1 representations,  Last Recollection will diverge into a different story.

This time Kirito and co didn’t meet their tragedy during the War of the Underworld, a thing that seems to change the story drastically. With Kirito and his friends finding themselves in fighting the forces of the Dark territory led by the Dark Knight. As well as exploring a different path to the story.

     
 

Characters

 

From the get go this new entry will feature a robust roster of characters, spanning from the various adventures in the franchise, including characters unique to the games, even movies alongside brand new ones. For a confirmed cast of at least 39 characters, likely to feature more with future updates. 

     
 

Gameplay

 

Taking place in the Dark Territory, we’ll be able to explore the desolate area of the Underworld, with many mysteries and story related content to discover. As far as gameplay goes it’s the Action JRPG formula with an active cast of 4 characters and active skills to pull off combos. 

There are 10 types of weapons that will play a role in team compositions, as well as being able to customize Kirito, not just his hairstyles but also gender and name. A thing that is further strengthened for the confirmed online co-op portion.

     
 

All in all a must have for fans of the series, especially those looking to complete their experience across the various media and have an alternative story to the original works. As well as the chance to meet and play together with other fans in the co-op mode.
