Following the technical triumph of Demon’s Souls (2020), internal documents paint a picture of a studio that spent years adrift due to shifting corporate mandates.

The most tangible loss was Codename: “Black Fang” (CP-14). Far from a mere expansion, this was a standalone Ghost of Tsushima spin-off designed to be the studio’s “Miles Morales moment.”

The project explored the supernatural folklore of Tsushima with a combat system that pushed the PS5’s haptics to their breaking point. Despite hitting every milestone during a six-month “proving window,” Sony pulled the plug on February 19, just weeks before the deadline.

For the Bloodborne community, the truth is even more bitter. Leaks confirm that Bluepoint didn’t just want to make a remake, they pitched it twice. However, the project was killed by “fragile internal politics” between Sony and FromSoftware, rather than a lack of talent.

Between these pitches, the studio was hollowed out by Project CP-13, a forced live-service God of War spin-off.

Lacking a Game Director of their own and forced to use “loaned” leadership from Santa Monica Studio, the team faced massive internal pushback. 75% of the staff reportedly opposed the live-service pivot, leading to the engine friction and morale collapse that ultimately sealed the studio’s fate.
