Developer SparklingBit and publisher THQ Nordic have announced Sacred: Last Pixel of Ancaria, the first new entry in the classic RPG series in over a decade, with a Kickstarter campaign coming soon.
Sacred: Last Pixel of Ancaria is not a remake or remaster, but a reimagining of the classic 2004 action RPG, heavily based on the original with a few modern touches and changes.
To complete its development, SparklingBit and THQ Nordic are asking fans to back the game on Kickstarter, with its campaign kicking off on April 14, 2026.
A Return to Ancaria’s Roots
Embracing the original 2004 Sacred, Last Pixel of Ancaria features a classic 16-bit 2D pixel art style, with players controlling a party of four heroes, which some long-term fans may recognize.
This time around, SparklingBit says it is leaning more heavily into humor, with “good jokes, bad jokes, nostalgic winks, and dirty laughs around every corner.”
Additionally, players will find familiar locations, including Seraphim Monastery and Shaddar’s Tower. There’s plenty of content, such as dungeons, loot, and “pixel chaos.”
Community Funding: Support the Next Chapter
It’s been a while since fans have had a new Sacred game to look forward to, and Last Pixel of Ancaria is the perfect opportunity to support the franchise and its future.
Although specific goals or stretch targets have not been announced yet, the Kickstarter campaign is set to begin on April 14. There will likely be opportunities to unlock exclusive rewards and new in-game features.

Seeing Sacred return after so long is interesting, but the project still feels early. The 16-bit style and focus on humor could work, though it’s unclear if they’ll add anything beyond nostalgia. The Kickstarter approach also raises some questions about how far along the game actually is. For now, it’s more of a “wait and see” situation than a confident comeback.
