Romeo Is a Dead Man (RiaDM) is the new third-person action-adventure game from the team at Grasshopper Manufacture. A famous Japanese development studio founded in 1998 by Goichi Suda, better known by his alias Suda51. This celebrated studio is behind some of the most beloved over-the-top action games of all time. Most notably, the famous cult series No More Heroes.
But also titles of the caliber of Killer Is Dead, Killer7, Michigan: Report from Hell, and Lollipop Chainsaw. Acquired in 2013 by GungHo, which led to a team split, until its acquisition in 2021 by NetEase Games, announcing 3 new titles coming in the future. Romeo Is a Dead Man Shows Off New Gameplay Trailer
At Tokyo Game Show 2025, among the big names, we also have the team from Grasshopper Manufacture. The famous Japanese development team led by Suda51 brought the new trailer for Romeo Is a Dead Man. The brutal, over-the-top action game was unveiled for the first time during Sony’s State of Play on 4 June 2025.
With a short but certainly intense Gameplay Trailer titled “Extremely Bloody Action Buffet,” they showed us RiaDM in all its glory. A new action title as brutal as it is bizarre, featuring weirdly designed enemies, laser blades, and blasters. Finally, they confirmed a 2026 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Romeo Is a Dead Man: What We Know About Suda51’s New Game
RiaDM is a fantastic new action-adventure title from the Grasshopper Manufacture team. Specifically, we’re talking about their first new IP in over 10 years, as well as the team’s first title following the acquisition by NetEase Games in 2021. It brings:
- A Story Across Space and Time: Following the protagonist Romeo Stargazer. He’s brought back to life and drafted into the Space-Time Division of the FBI. Wearing the Deadgear mask, he hunts down criminals who have exploited the space-time rift and searches for his missing girlfriend, Juliet.
- Brutal Combat: Accompanied by third-person combat that’s as bizarre as it is brutal. Using melee weapons and firearms to fight your way through hordes of enemies. And absorb their blood to unleash the special attack Bloody Summer, with unlockable upgrades throughout the adventure.
A new IP that definitely screams Suda51’s DNA. A new IP and the first of 3 new games announced by the team since the 2021 acquisition by NetEase. A publisher that, at the beginning of 2025, made budget cuts to various studios, including the Grasshopper team itself. But the team is confident about a launch by 2026 and has new details to reveal.
