River City Ransom Underground is being delisted on short notice. Store pages are already stripped of media, with a likely cutoff on Jan 5.

River City Ransom Underground is one of those games that still gets brought up whenever people talk about modern takes on classic beat-’em-ups. It’s a follow-up to the old-school River City Ransom formula but bigger, rougher around the edges in a charming way, and built with co-op brawling in mind. It has its own little corner of fans who stuck with it for years.

Unfortunately, right before 2025 was over, River City Ransom Underground got some unexpected news.

River City Ransom Underground Delisting Underway

Conatus Creative Inc., the game’s developer, updated the Steam page with a short announcement saying the game is currently in the process of being delisted.

One of the most obvious changes is that the game’s store pages are being stripped down. On Steam, the media and screenshots that used to be part of the listing are now gone, leaving the page with blacked out media placeholders. It’s a weird look, but it lines up with the delisting process.

Conatus didn’t give a specific delisting date in the announcement but the Steam sale timing gives a reasonable guess. The game is currently discounted until January 5th, so it could be that. On or after but definitely not before that since that doesn’t make sense.

As for other platforms, the game’s Humble listing is also blacked out but it’s still currently available to purchase unlike in GOG, where its listing has already disappeared.

As for the reason, Conatus simply says the delisting is due to the expiration of a licensing agreement. While it affects the game’s availability for future purchases, all existing owners will see no changes. Players will still be able to play it as usual.
