Rewilders: The Lost Spring is the new open-world action game in development by Herobeat Studios. This Spanish development team, founded in 2017, debuted in 2022 with Endling: Extinction is Forever, a captivating post-apocalyptic adventure where you follow a fox and her cubs. This time, they’re presenting a self-published project.
It’s a colorful open-world action adventure with unique mechanics, blending features from metroidvania-style roguelikes with monster collectors. Among the big unexpected participants at Gamescom 2025 was the team from Herobeat Studios. They officially announced their new project, Rewilders: The Lost Spring, on August 18, 2025. It’s an Action Open World game with roguelike mechanics and monster collection.
The announcement came with an Official Trailer that drops us into a colorful adventure. We’ll have to fight the enemies of nature that are corrupting the biomes. We’ll be accompanied by colorful creatures known as Hântu, making use of their abilities and buffs, with many Hântu to collect.
Rewilders: What the new title from Herobeat Studios offers
The indie team from Barcelona brings us an even more ambitious project that doesn’t shy away from its important environmental message. You’ll play as young Abby, a survivor from a small village ravaged by pesticides and monoculture. Rescued by an elder, she discovers what happened to the world, exploring various biomes aboard a flying ship.
Your goal is to save your family, who have been transformed into monsters by the corruption, and free the world with the help of the Hântu. All of this in a 3D open-world action adventure, where you’ll face various enemies and the dreaded multi-phase Tormented Bosses. The roguelike element means every run starts fresh, with different enemies and items. You’ll gain various permanent upgrades, but also discover new paths and Hântu to collect.
