Parasite Mutant Brings an Updated Demo to Steam Next Fest This Month
Parasite Mutant is getting an updated demo this month, ahead of Steam Next Fest, with gameplay improvements and a full release targeted for mid-2026.
2026 kicked off pretty good for Parasite Eve fans as IceSitruuna released the first public demo for Parasite Mutant on Steam last month, giving players their first real taste of the project. And now, February is bringing more good news as the developer has confirmed that an updated demo will arrive later this month and will be featured during Steam Next Fest.
Parasite Mutant Updated Demo to be Featured in Steam Next Fest February 2026
The original Parasite Mutant demo launched on January 7, 2026, and it delivered far more than a brief teaser. Players were given around 45 minutes of gameplay including tutorials, combat encounters, environmental puzzles, and an early slice of the prologue. IceSitruuna also allowed players to explore an area representing roughly five percent of the full game’s planned scope.
Early impressions were strong. Players praised the demo’s solid performance and responsiveness, with many noting that it ran smoothly even on Steam Deck. Combat, in particular, earned positive feedback for channeling the tense, deliberate feel of classic Parasite Eve–style encounters while still feeling modern. But even with that positive reception, the development team continued to refine the demo with fixes and improvements.
Now the demo is about to get even better. In a new announcement, IceSitruuna confirmed that Parasite Mutant will receive another demo update just ahead of this month’s Steam Next Fest, which kicks off on February 23. That means players can expect the updated demo to be available for download before the event begins. While the main story content will remain unchanged, several systems are being refined.

Players who complete the demo will now unlock character appearance customization, with limited outfits and hairstyles available for now. Equipment can be changed during combat, item usage has been streamlined to consume only one ATC slot, and skills can take either one or two slots depending on their type.
Reloading has also been adjusted, with automatic reloads occurring after combat and a new option to reload or unload directly from the menu. These, of course, are accompanied by your usual balance adjustments and bug fixes.
IceSitruuna also shared that this will be the final update to the demo. From here on out, the team is fully focused on completing the full game which they are aiming to finish by mid-2026.
For fans, that means two pieces of good news at once. The best version of the demo is about to land and the wait for the full release may soon be coming to an end.
