Mortal Kombat 1 is the 12th installment and the second reboot of the series. While retaining some story elements from Mortal Kombat 11, here Liu Kang after having obtained his status as the Fire God decided to create a new timeline.
With the new story of this game timeline the characters will have some changes to their background. This will reflect into some changes to the combo system, with the introduction of Air Kombat.
Allowing for combos done in Air as well as High Block to punish those air attacks. With the introduction of the Kameo system, we’ll get not only new Fatalities for each characters but also combinations of Kameos and Fatality.
The biggest features of this new entry are definitely the Kameo Fighters.Taking a page from the more eastern fighting games, Kameo Fighters will launch some assigned attacks to allow the players to create new combos and chains. And as already mentioned they can be featured in Fatalities.
Invasion Mode is set to be a rather welcomed addition to the game. Featuring what seems like a classic RPG board game, we’ll explore a map and try to reach the goal while playing tons of minigames. With new additions as well as the return of the likes of Test Your Might. All the while unlocking goodies, like skins, artworks and in-game currency!
All in all, the reboot is set to raise the bar of Warner Bros. Games beloved series. Featuring new fresh changes to characters, a much more dynamic fighting with aerial combos and Kameo attacks, allowing players to experiment and offer different approaches. While not shying away from fun content and return of mini-games with Invasion Mode. Mortal Kombat 1 releases on September 19, on Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox X/S and PC. Although if you have already purchased the Premium Edition or Kollector’s Edition you’ll receive a preview access from September 14.
