Minecraft: “Mounts of Mayhem” Update is Live (And Horses Finally Swim!)
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for is here. Minecraft’s fourth and final drop of 2025, Mounts of Mayhem, is officially live on Java and Bedrock. Honestly, this update completely overhauls exploration, but don’t expect a walk in the park—you’re going to have to fight for your right to ride in Minecraft!
New Hostile Mounts: Camel Husks and Zombie Horses
If you head to the desert, watch your back. The new Camel Husks are absolute tanks, spawning with two riders: a standard Husk and the new Parched mob.
Here is the kicker: both are immune to sunlight. You have to defeat both riders before you can claim the Camel Husk, and let me tell you, the Parched are relentless with their attacks.
When the sun goes down, things get even messier. You will now encounter Zombie Horses ridden by actual zombies. They might be undead, but once you knock that rider off, that zombie horse is yours to claim.
Underwater Mounts: The Nautilus
The ocean just got a lot more interesting (and dangerous) with the addition of the Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus.
- The Regular Nautilus: These are neutral and don’t have riders. You can tame them easily with a Pufferfish—trust me, stock up on these.
- The Zombie Nautilus: These come with a Zombie rider you need to defeat first.
Pro Tip: Taming a Nautilus isn’t just for speed; it grants the “Breath of the Nautilus” effect, which pauses your oxygen consumption while mounted.
Combat & Mechanics: The Spear and Swimming
Combat feels fresh thanks to the new Spear. When paired with the Lunge enchantment, it gives you a massive burst of speed to close the gap on enemies.
But the real game-changer? Horses can finally swim.
Gone are the days of dragging your horse across a river with a lead. They won’t sink, meaning you can cross the Overworld without constantly dismounting.

Future Updates: Minecraft Blast and 2026
While we are busy mastering the new mounts, Mojang is already teasing updates for 2026.
