Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Marvel Goes XCOM in New Strategy Game

XCOM developer Firaxis Games revealed Marvel’s Midnight Suns at gamescom, and its latest trailer gives us a glimpse of its gameplay.

What is Marvel’s Midnight Suns?

Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a tactical role-playing game featuring characters from the Marvel universe. It puts you face-to-face against the forces of the underworld as you battle them alongside the Midnight Suns, a secret organization comprised of Marvel legends, and are considered Earth’s last line of defense.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns: Gameplay

The game promises a deeply customizable tactical battle system as well as a deep role-playing experience featuring your very own original (and also fully customizable) Marvel hero.

You will play as The Hunter, a hero that the Avengers desperately revived in order to defeat Lilith.

You won’t have to fight alone though, as the Midnight Suns are fighting alongside you. In the game you will find heroes from the Avengers, X-Men, Runaways, and more. Each of these heroes have their own set of unique abilities such as life-saving skills or damage-dealing attacks.

In true Firaxis fashion, the game employs a card-battling system which are drawn randomly at the beginning of a battle. The cards range from attacks to maneuvering the environment to your advantage. IGN reports these cards are upgradeable as you progress in the game.

Also, your squad will play a huge role in your victory over enemies. Choose which heroes to bring with you into battle and watch how each of their skills can make or break the game.

The good news is that you won’t have to buy any loot boxes for cards. You may purchase skins, though, but they will be purely cosmetic and won’t affect your gameplay.

When Will Marvel’s Midnight Suns Release?

Firaxis and 2K have not announced a specific release date for the game at this time, however, they announced it will be out on March 2022.
