The Bat-Signal is lit, and it’s calling you to action a week early. In a massive and unexpected move, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is hitting the streets a week early on May 22, 2026.

In a rare move for the industry, Developer TT Games and publisher Warner Bros. Games are launching the highly anticipated LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight forward from its old May 29 release date to a new launch date of May 22, 2026.
The new release date is due to the delay of GTA 6, meaning those on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC can play as the caped crusader earlier than expected, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version due to launch at a later date.

The Dark Knight Returns Early: New Release Date & Features
The wait for the ultimate brick-built Gotham just got shorter. Instead of the original late May slot, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is now hitting shelves and digital storefronts on May 22, 2026.
This isn’t just another retread of the plastic-caped crusader. The “Legacy” tag refers to a massive roster of over 100 playable suits, spanning every era from the 1939 original to the gritty 2022 aesthetic.
The gameplay also sees a major overhaul. We’re moving away from the old-school button-mashing of previous entries in favor of a fluid, counter-based combat system that feels closer to the Arkham series, but with more studs.
Pre-Order Intel: Editions & Premium Retail Prices
Deciding which version to grab depends on how deep your love for the Multiverse goes. The Standard Edition hits that $69.99 official price, giving you the full base game and three days of early access.
If you want the Deluxe Edition, you’re looking at the higher $89.99 price. This version bundles an all-new story mission featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn, over 30 launch-day items, and Mayhem mode at launch.
Whether you go physical or digital, that new May 22 release date applies across the board. If you’ve already pre-ordered, your countdown timer should have already updated to reflect the earlier drop.
Is the Bat-Signal Calling You?
When a studio moves a date forward, it’s a massive flex. It usually signals that the gold master is ready and developer confidence is through the roof.
The blend of nostalgic suits and a more sophisticated combat gameplay makes this a mandatory play for anyone who grew up with a cowl.
