Trails Beyond the Horizon delayed to January 2026 due to Nintendo Switch 2

The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is the third chapter of the Calvard arc. A new chapter in the famous JRPG series from Nihon Falcom already released in Japan for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on September 26, 2024.

The delay announcement for Trails Beyond the Horizon to 2026

In a surprise announcement, the NIS America team announces the delay for Trails Beyond the Horizon. The third chapter of the Calvard arc that continues the adventures of Van Arkride on the Zemuria continent. The localized version that was supposed to release in 2025, but now the team confirms a delay to January 2026.

This news arrives on June 17, 2025 with an official message from Toshihiro Kondo, President of Nihon Falcom. Confirming the release of Trails Beyond the Horizon on Nintendo Switch 2 at launch. Stating that the chapter will be the debut title for the series on NS2, requiring some additional time.

 

Trails: reasons behind the delay of Beyond the Horizon and latest news

This news was certainly not received well by fans, especially those hoping to experience the final chapter of the Calvard arc in the same year as the global release of Daybreak II. With the additional months just to optimize the Switch 2 version and the possible Upgrade Pack for NS1.

An additional confirmation that the Switch 2 version will be a Key-Card instead of a Cartridge. Meanwhile, regarding Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, the GungHo team has given the green light for physical pre-orders of the game from June 17. Including the Steelbook and Bracer Edition.
