Hell Let Loose Update 18 Rolls Out and It’s Massive
Expression Games has rolled out Hell Let Loose Update 18, a massive patch that adds tons of balance changes, new features, and a map refresh of Stalingrad. Update 18 is the first of two major patches coming to the brutal WW2 FPS by the end of 2025.
The latest update adds significant changes and balance adjustments to armor, commander abilities, map lighting, and the Stalingrad legacy map.
With Hell Let Loose: Vietnam on the horizon and launching for PC and consoles in 2026, developer Expression Games is now slowing down on the franchise’s original title, with another major update planned for November.
What’s New in Hell Let Loose Update 18
Hell Let Loose Update 18 focuses on Stalingrad, refreshing it for an improved player experience. To this end, Expression Games has added general map-wide cover, tweaked its terrain, and adjusted player spawning points.
The patch notes reveal general improvements as follows:
- Adjusted the player spawners balancing the HQs
- Adjusted the scale and placement of the capture point’s hard caps
- General map-wide cover pass where needed (making sure to retain the legacy map’s openness)
- General map-wide VFX pass
- General terrain adjustments
- General destruction pass
- Updated roads meshes
- Updated the consistency of buildable behaviour when trying to place objects inside buildings
- Addressed floating assets
- Added five new lighting scenarios
- Skirmish set up
Expression Games says the changes are “balance and enhance gameplay, expanding on the legacy map’s existing theme and retaining what makes Stalingrad so iconic.”
Other Changes and Updates
Another major rework has taken place with armor, with customization now available alongside a new technician loadout that provides key engineering capabilities.
There are limits to heavy tank spawns, changes to tank physics that help with travel across terrain, and a recoil effect has been added when firing the main turret.
As part of Update 18, players can now expect five new lighting updates for day, night, dusk, morning, and night. Expression Games has also introduced dynamic weather across El Alamein and Driel.
Additionally, there is a new and shiny redeployment screen, network connection icons, vehicle VFX improvements, an ADS FOV slider, and various other quality-of-life improvements.
