Key Takeaways: The Quick Answer
- Grand Theft Auto VI is reportedly targeting a February 2027 PC release, just three months after its console debut.
- Rockstar Games suffered a confirmed data breach on April 11, 2026, orchestrated by the hacker group ShinyHunters.
- The hackers are demanding a ransom by April 14, though Rockstar claims only non-material corporate data was accessed.
When is GTA 6 releasing on PC?
Grand Theft Auto 6 is targeting a PC release in February 2027. According to recent insider reports from former developers, Rockstar Games aims to launch the PC port a mere three months after the official console release on November 19, 2026, staying within their current fiscal year.
Historically, PC players have been treated like second-class citizens. We waited 18 months for GTA V and over a year for Red Dead Redemption 2.
If this February 2027 target holds, the agonizing wait is practically eliminated. The intel comes from an insider known as DetectiveSeeds, who reached out to 90 former Rockstar employees on LinkedIn.
Three of those developers confirmed the internal timeline. While internal targets can absolutely shift, the goal is clearly to secure those massive PC sales before the fiscal year wraps up on March 31, 2027.
According to 3 former Rockstar employees (that I contacted through Linkedin) Grand Theft Auto 6 is aiming to release the PC version in February 2027. All stated this timeline could shift, but Take- Two and Rockstar wanted to get the game out before end of fiscal year. I reached… pic.twitter.com/mOh50sQR4Q

The ShinyHunters Hack Hits Rockstar Games
Just as the community started celebrating the shortened PC wait time, Rockstar was hit with another massive digital headache. The notorious cybercriminal group ShinyHunters successfully breached the studio’s cloud infrastructure on April 11.
Unlike the devastating 2022 Slack hack that leaked 90 early gameplay videos, this breach took a highly technical route. The hackers targeted Anodot, a third-party analytics tool used by Rockstar to monitor cloud costs.
By extracting authentication tokens from Anodot, ShinyHunters bypassed password security entirely and gained direct access to Rockstar’s Snowflake servers. The group is now holding the stolen corporate data hostage—demanding a ransom by April 14, 2026.
Rockstar officially confirmed the breach in a statement to the press. They acknowledged that third parties accessed a limited amount of non-material company information, but assured fans that player data remains secure.

Will the data breach delay the game?
The recent ShinyHunters hack will not delay the launch of GTA 6. Rockstar explicitly stated that the incident has absolutely no impact on their organization, active development, or their players’ personal information.
ShinyHunters seems to have secured financial documents and corporate marketing timelines rather than game engine source code. While nobody wants to see internal budget spreadsheets leaked on the dark web, it doesn’t stop the developers from doing their jobs.
We all know the standard store cost of modern AAA gaming is already pushing our wallets to the absolute limit. The last thing players need is insider knowledge being weaponized by betting markets or malicious actors.
For now, the November 19 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S remains fully locked in. We just have to hope the studio can secure its backend servers before the final marketing push begins.
