Digimon fans have plenty to look forward to as Bandai Namco officially revealed that Digimon Story Time Stranger is getting a major expansion DLC slated for 2027. The announcement came as part of a packed showcase that kept the community excited especially after Time Stranger’s successful launch last year.
Digimon Story Time Stranger 2027 Expansion Announced
Digimon fans had a great weekend thanks to the recently concluded DIGIMON CON 2026. The event brought several announcements, including Digimon UP, a new free-to-play monster-raising RPG heading to mobile later this year that arguably served as the show’s main headliner. Still, it wasn’t the only major reveal, as Bandai Namco also confirmed that Digimon Story Time Stranger is getting a major expansion.
After the successful launch of the game last year, fans are already looking forward to what this DLC could bring. The expansion is currently in development and is planned for a 2027 release. The timing also lines up well for Nintendo players, as the game is finally arriving on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on July 10.

The announcement itself didn’t go into specifics. There are no details yet on the story, features, or which Digimon will be included. What was shared, however, is that the results of the 139th Digimon Referendum will help influence the expansion’s roster. The top 10 Digimon from that poll are Gammamon, Loogamon, Kazemon, Gumdramon, Pulsemon, Herissmon, Terriermon Assistant, Meicoomon, Ludomon, and Gekkomon. There’s no confirmation though that all ten will make the cut.
Outside of the poll, fans have been actively sharing their own wishlist picks online especially for Digimons that didn’t land in the top rankings hoping Bandai will consider.
As it stands, Digimon Story Time Stranger already has three DLC packs available, which can be purchased individually or through the season pass. The upcoming expansion, however, is expected to be separate and not included in that pass.
Digimon Story Time Stranger is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with its Nintendo debut arriving this July.
