Pro Cycling Manager 2023 will be the newest addition to the well known sports simulation and management franchise. You can manage a team, recruit riders and staff, find sponsors, train your athletes and devise a strategy for the season by adapting to each race conditions and available equipment. There are 80 professional teams to choose from and over 260 races on the calendar. This new title bring a revamped pro cyclist mode, improved races and a more realistic world rankings.
Pro Cycling Manager 2023 is a title developed by the seasoned devs of Cyanide Studio, known for some really great title like Call of Chtulhu, Styx and Blood Bowl 2, as well as some disastrous title like Space Hulk Tactics and latest Blood Bowl 3. That said the team almost always delivered a solid experience with their Pro Cycling Manager series, especially the latest few ones.
Sporting the new 2023 season and new official teams, PCM23 sports 260 races and 700 different stages, among the most famous tours and tournament of the cycling scene, and for the first time ever the world renown Tour de France. Moreover the training sessions has been revamped along with a new system with dynamic events, allowing our cyclist to responds to unexpected events, just like getting back up faster after a disastrous fall. The game also features a pletora of minor adjustements and improvements, both gameplay wise as well as at the UI. Definitely improved is also the IA, being able to strategize better for their riders “energy” management.
The game as always has 2 main modes, the Carrier where we’ll take the role of the manager, being able to recruit and scout new cyclist to add to our team, personalize our staff hiring the best of the best, create tactics to responds better on each stage and opponents lineup, improve equipment and more.
As well as the Pro Cyclist mode, where we can create our own rider and distribute it’s stats accordingly. We’ll be able to come with strategies and tactics with our manager, based on other riders performances, grow as a rider by unlocking new physical stats in the skill tree, become the very best in our team or even try to gain the attention of other team and land a new spot on a better team.
All in all Pro Cycling Manager 2023 has a few interesting improvements and QoL, although it doesn’t really strat too far from its predecessor. With a slight tweak to the AI and a new stat to take care of, it’s enough to change the experience for the online mode. And while the retail price isn’t enticing, PCM 2023 is just 10€ more than 2022 on keyshops, making it a decent deal for die hard fan of professional cyclism.
