Lil Gator Game is a casual and adorable movement-focused adventure game developed by MegaWobble, discover new friends and uncover everything the island has to offer. Climb, swim, and glide your way into the hearts of many different characters you meet during this adventure. There’s a buddy atop every hill and they all seem to need help. Bop cardboard enemies, brave serene hills and forests, and scale sheer rocks that only you can dare.

• Discover brand new areas, friends to make, and joy to be had. Drop in on the theatre kids, swing your stick sword through the forest with the prep schoolers or find the cool kids down by the Creak lands with plenty more areas for you to uncover, there’s no knowing who you might run into.
• The world is a pretty big place, but it’s also full of friends! Invite them to play on the island’s playgrounds. Each new friend you make will add to your adventure but making them isn’t easy you might have to complete a quest or two.
• Find arts and craft supplies all over the island which you can use to make yourself all kinds of goodies and bring the playground to life. Craft new abilities like using your doll teddy to ragdoll Lil gator from the mountaintop to the valley or Skim pebbles into hard-to-reach cardboard enemies.

It’s a touching ending that deftly works with the whimsical parts of the game rather than against them. I roll credits thinking over how much play brings us together — a theme near and dear to anyone that writes about video games for a living — and I can’t wait to jump back into the world. Luckily, the developers give players new tools to make Lil Gator Game‘s post-game even more enjoyable, and I pick up my comical sword once more.

Still, if my only real complaint is that I wanted more, that shows just how much I enjoyed Lil Gator Game. Its unique approach to platforming and exploration, combined with its gorgeous visuals, heartfelt story, and charming characters make it one of my favourite gaming experiences of 2022.
