Inayah: Life after Gods has all the makings of a great Metroidvania game, there are definitely areas where the game could be improved and frightened up. The UI could be a lot less clunky to use and Inayah could do with an off switch for her quips. But overall, the art style and controls make this game well worth playing and I would be keen to try any other games that this studio produces.

INAYAH – Life After Gods from developer Exogenesis Studios is a fun and flawed metroidvania adventure. Its narrative is quite good and purposeful, the art is out of this world visually amazing, and the backend design is complicated, as it is motivating. The repetitiveness of enemies and level design drag the gameplay down a bit but for the most part the game still delivers a worthy adventure.

As a Metroidvania-enjoyer, I largely had a good time with Inayah – Life After Gods. There’s a creative world to explore, some truly impressive art and animation, and the weapons doubling as your door keys and fake sequence-breaking gadgets was awesome. Combat was a real downer, though, and the awkward map and enormous rooms made for some unpleasant backtracking.
