Guilty Gear X2 Reload is a 2D action video game developed by Arc System Works, and published by Sammy Studios.

It was first released  on the 23rd of July 2004 as the updated version of Guilty Gear X2. They made adjustments on balancing high-level play and Robo-Ky was made playable from the beginning as a normal character.

As humanity struggled to better themselves, they created the biological weapon known as Gears. Originally intended as the next step of human evolution, they were instead fitted for war and turned against their own makers. A century later, you are left in the wake of the hundred year human-Gear war that nearly destroyed the Earth.

Challenges in Mission Mode were increased to 100 and Survival Mode has 1000 levels in Reload. In survival mode, players must not entirely defeat the enemy but perform certain techniques such as counter-attacks or tension attacks to go to the next level in this mode.
