Ed-0: Zombie Uprising offers an interesting concept in which you have to face hordes of zombies as a Ninja, Samurai or Sumo Wrestler. An appealing mix for those who love japanese culture and post-apocalyptic games. Thanks to roguelike elements, the combat is quite difficult as it generates each time you start a new battle.
However, the developers still have a lot of room for improvement to make the gameplay enjoyable. Even in early access, this game is still pretty ugly, with low resolution textures and rather clunky animations. There’s still plenty of things that need to be polished, so hopefully the game will be smoother when it comes out. Will it become one of the most popular titles in the hack’n’slash genre? I doubt it, but I think it can become a lot of fun with more updates.
ED-0 Zombie Uprising is a rogue-like action survival game set in Edo-era Japan, where hordes of zombies have taken over. Players can choose between a samurai, a sumo wrestler, or a ninja to fight against the undead and find items and skills in randomly generated dungeons to increase their overall power. With unique experiences every time, players will face challenging decisions that will decide their fate. The game offers over 30 hours of gameplay with side quests, main story quests, and bosses to complete, as well as customizable difficulty levels and over 150 items and skills to collect.
Ed-0 Zombie Uprising has been available in early access since April 4, 2022, and will be officially released this summer. A game that has gone relatively unnoticed, no marketing, no communication, low visibility, drowned in the very competitive Steam charts, which nevertheless offers a rather singular experience: killing zombies with characters from Asian/Japanese folklore: samurai, sumo, ninja… and the skills that go with it. This is a 3D Roguelike game, each run is randomly generated. Dungeons or outdoor environments will never be the same, which radically changes the game experience from one game to another. Not bad!
But technically it’s rather average, there are some annoying bugs and above all, you can only play solo unlike the vast majority of competing games. So the game struggles to stand out and to assert itself, it passes rather unnoticed. But the gameplay is relatively nice, it’s worth a try considering the competitive price.
A game that just released in early access, it’s a zombie hack and slash with roguelike elements basically. The game takes place in Japan in the Edo period and players can choose characters like the Samurai, Sumo Wrestler or Ninja to wreak havoc through zombie hordes. Characters can be upgraded with items and skills found in dungeons and the maps are randomly generated so each run will be different. For now the game has limited content in terms of characters and missions but more should be added along the way or on full release. Can’t say I’m excited to play this game and it doesn’t have coop which is a great feature to have in this genre.
