On the back of Phantom Liberty, along with a really substantial rebuild of all of the game’s core systems, Cyberpunk 2077 manages to wash its hands of its past failures and emerges as the genuine article. At last, it’s the intoxicating escape I once thought it was and stands out, to me, as the premiere role-playing resort in what might very well be a modern golden age for the genre.
It has the cinematic panache of FFXVI but incorporates the player more fully into its events. It has the world-building chops of Starfield but has a more kinetic and vibrant energy in its quest structure and character interactions. Most importantly, it’s a proof of concept for less-is-more AAA RPG design that I hope more developers make note of for potential standalone products.
If this is the game that CD Projekt Red had been able to deliver at launch then it would have been lauded as a Game of the Generation candidate. The writing cuts deep, aided by excellent voice acting and incredible music. Patch 2.0 and Phantom Liberty finish off what has been a miraculous comeback story.

This is probably the craziest expansion I’ve ever done. It’s got a full story, a lot of work on the setting and the characters, and a great new district that’s different from the rest of Night City. And there’s a lot of new stuff for the base game as well. For me, it’s essential and inseparable from the base game. We’ve seen AAA games with less quality than this one expansion!
While the base game remains one of the most played, the recent DLC Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is adding a lot of new content. With new story, another locations and a different skill tree, this explansion contains endless hours of gameplay. It is for sure a great addition to the main game which is worth its price.
Despite the rough launch, Cyberpunk 2077 was fixed and improved a lot since the release. Playing through the main game now plus the expansion is the best experience this game has to offer yet. Besides new elements and mechanics introduced in update 2.0, Phantom Liberty adds a new area, Dogtown, with its own storyline, characters and unique quests to complete. In my opinion, a must for fans of futuristic first-person action RPGs.
When I played Cyberpunk 2077 this DLC had not been released yet, so when I heard they were going to release it, I thought it was time for another run. The game was that fun that I don’t mind at all playing again through the main questline!
