Outstanding Visual Style Award

The Outstanding Visual Style Award is given to the games that, as the name suggests, have a particular style that immediately catches the player’s eye, either because it is simply very beautiful or has innovative new design features.

Outstanding Visual Style Award

High On Life

High On Life

Let’s start with the first game in the Outstanding Visual Style Award category and that is the shooter High On Life. In High on Life, you and your family and house are beamed to another planet where you don’t actually want to be.

To get back down from the planet, you need money, which you earn in High on Life by carrying out bounty missions. You always have your faithful companion, a pistol with a face that also talks to you. Your pistol will always make a funny comment, giving the game its very own sense of humor.

Cocoon

Cocoon

Cocoon is the second game to be nominated for the Outstanding Visual Style Award. The game is a cute little puzzle platformer that takes place in many different worlds. Different biomes such as ruins, ancient civilizations and huge organic constructs await you.

You can use different spheres to travel to different worlds using alien technology and discover new things there time and time again. These spheres all have different abilities, allowing you to open different doors in different worlds. But not everything will be peaceful for you. You will also encounter enemies and challenging boss battles in the other worlds.

Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart

Atomic Heart is a modern shooter set in a utopian world where robots have taken over much of the work of humans and many technological advances have been made. At the start of the game, you fly to a suburb of the capital where your car, which is attached to a hot air balloon, crashes due to destroyed robots.

The robots in this area have all gone wild and are turning on the humans. And you want to get away from this place. You can expect many exciting battles with melee weapons or ranged weapons against various types of robots and, of course, some exciting bosses.

Inward

Inward

In Inward you build your own little idyllic kingdom. In this place you will always plant new trees and thus make your area even more beautiful. You can also make your personal place look even better with grass, flowers and much more. Over time, you will also unlock new trees and other decorative objects.

The game gives you targeted meditations so that you can switch off completely while playing and are much more relaxed after the game than before. So, if you want to really relax in a game, you should definitely try Inward for free.

Darkest Dungeon® II

Darkest Dungeon® II

Darkest Dungeon II is a turn-based roguelike in which you and your party travel to and defeat various dungeons. The dungeon expeditions last between 30 minutes and several hours per run. By playing the dungeons you get improvements that make it easier the next time and every run is different, so it never gets boring.

Your party will grow closer and closer over time on their journey and friendships will form, creating strong synergies in battle. There are 5 different regions, each with a different design and different enemies, so it’s definitely worth taking a look at the game.

Best Soundtrack Award

The Best Soundtrack Award is, as the name suggests, given to the game with the best music. The best is of course relatively objective, as everyone has their own opinion about music, but of course the masses decide here too. To vote for this category, you should listen to the OST (Original Sound Tracks) on YouTube to find out which game has the best music.

Best Soundtrack Award

Pizza Tower

Pizza Tower

Pizza Tower is a frantic 2D platformer inspired by the Wario Land games. With detailed and fun pixel graphics. The game’s soundtrack was composed by Ronan de Castle and is a very energetic one that fits perfectly with the fast-paced gameplay.

You play as the fat Italian chef Peppino Spagetti, who despite all his amazing whiteness is very agile and masters almost every jump with bravura. The Pizza Tower has 5 levels, each with several levels, so there’s a lot to discover in Pizza Tower and it’s definitely worth checking out the game or at least listening to the soundtrack.

Persona 5 Tactica

Persona 5 Tactica

Persona 5 Tactica is the latest of the Persona games. You join the Phantom Thieves in a brand new story in this fighting adventure game, set in the well-known Persona universe. By chance, the Phantom Thieves have landed in a realm that lives under tyrannical conditions.

Exciting tactical battles and boss fights await you, which you must defeat with style. The music in Persona 5 Tactica was composed by Toshiki Konishi, who has also created the soundtracks for many other Persona games.

The Last of Us™ Part I

The Last of Us™ Part I

The Last of Us should be familiar to most people. In the world of The Last of Us, a virus has broken out that has turned people into zombies, which is why 14-year-old Ellie was in a military quarantine zone. After Joel is assigned to smuggle her out of the camp, what should have been an easy job turns into something much bigger.

You can expect a heart-wrenching story and exciting battles against the zombies that keep chasing you. The music for The Last of Us Part I was composed by Gustavo Santaolalla, who won an Oscar for Best Film Music in 2006 and 2007 and has composed the music for all The Last of Us games.

Hi-Fi RUSH

Hi-Fi RUSH

Hi-Fi RUSH is the first game to really focus on music in the Best Soundtrack Award nominations. You play Chai, a boy who wishes he was a rock star. In an ultra-modern world where implants and robots are the norm. But an accident has caused Chai to have an MP3 player implanted in his chest, which is why he has problems with the robots.

You have to keep building up your combo in battles to cause a lot of damage, but you always have to attack in time to complete your combo. The music matches all the exciting battles and was composed by Shuichi Kobori, Reo Uratani and Masatoshi Yanagi.

Chants of Sennaar

Chants of Sennaar

Chants of Sennaar is a puzzle game set in a tower where the inhabitants have all stopped talking. But according to the legends, one day a traveler will come and break the silence of the tower. Discover a wonderful world full of secrets and inspired by the myth of Babel.

Ancient languages await you, which you must try to understand, as well as some guards that you must sneak past in order to enter forbidden areas. The music in Chants of Sennaar was composed by Thomas Brunet and perfectly reflects the mystical atmosphere of the game.
