Amnesia is the famous first-person horror game series from the team at Frictional Games. A small Swedish development studio from Malmo, founded in 2007. Officially announcing on September 16, 2025, the incredible milestone reached by the Amnesia series. Which now totals an amazing 5 Million Copies sold worldwide across its 4 installments.
The team extends a huge thank you for the support from the community. Strong support since the official launch of The Dark Descent on September 8, 2010. But also with the great comeback of the series after over 7 years of absence with the solid Rebirth in 2020. And the new fantastic survival experience of The Bunker in 2023.

A Look at the Amnesia Series
Amnesia is now an iconic series in the immersive horror game scene. It has a certainly interesting development history, with Dark Descent being strongly inspired by the Penumbra series, given its parallel development with Penumbra: Requiem. It was followed by A Machine for Pigs, which wasn’t developed by the team and was criticized for its interesting but not very coherent story.
This led to a hiatus of 7 years, during which the team focused mainly on SOMA. This title carries over numerous elements from Dark Descent, such as the type of story, exploration, and puzzles. With Rebirth in 2020, which leverages the experience the team gained from SOMA into a solid installment. And finally, The Bunker in 2023 as an entirely new experience thanks to the procedural approach of the Bunker.
