Techland releases Dying Light 2 Stay Human on 4 February, but not everyone is happy as Reddit reacts to Denuvo system integration just days ahead of launch.

Denuvo is a digital rights management (DRM) system that helps protect games from piracy.
Denuvo isn’t a long-term solution to piracy, but as the world’s leading DRM system, Denuvo does promise the longest Dying Light 2 crack-free release window.
That is to say that with Denuvo, companies like Techland hope to have a few months after Dying Light 2’s release before it’s cracked and distributed for people to download for free.
In theory, systems like Denuvo should be welcomed by developers and players alike, but unfortunately, Denuvo has caused performance issues in games.
One such game is TEKKEN 7, with game director Katsuhiro Harada blaming Denuvo’s anti-tamper software as the reason for TEKKEN 7’s poor performance on PCs.
Issues have included frame FPS drops and longer load times, with benchmarks from Overlord Gaming suggesting performance can drop by up to 50% when a game integrates with Denuvo.
So, although DRM will prevent a Dying Light 2 crack from appearing in the first few weeks and prevent free Dying Light 2 downloads, players are justifiably concerned.
The Dying Light subreddit is buzzing after Techland announced the game is releasing with Denuvo integration, to the point that mods have locked comments.
Some gamers have suggested that announcing it so close to the release date is disingenuous and deceiving.
User bza4207 commented in the subreddit that “Techland should have been more transparent” from an earlier date.
Many others agree as DanteYoda adds, “I agree it’s really slimy,” and drazgul replies with, “Absolutely, it’s their call whether to use it or not, but at least be upfront and honest about it.”
Others, though, are understanding of Techland’s stance, with WeissFan43 raising the fact that “Dying Light was pirated a lot. Pretty much every pirate site has it. Plus all the DLCs.”
User OmniLib420 seems to be one of the few accepting Denuvo, albeit reluctantly, saying, “I don’t like DRM software, but I won’t deny it works, unlike a lot of people on this site will lead you to believe.”
With tensions high on the subject, Techland has released a statement on why they have looked to Denuvo to prevent Dying Light 2 downloads.
The statement mentions that Dying Light 2 Stay Human was in development for seven years, with over fifteen hundred people investing their time and talent into making the game.
As a way to protect their efforts from the piracy they suffered when they released Dying Light 1, they’ve included the Denuvo system.
Techland does accept that many won’t be happy, but they add that they will be monitoring feedback and testing performance over the first few months of Dying Light 2’s release.
Whether you’re for or against Denuvo, it only makes sense that a Dying Light crack at launch can only destroy future games in the franchise.
If you’re going to download Dying Light 2 and look forward to future Dying Light DLC, make sure to purchase the game and help support the developers.
