Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo 4 is a highly anticipated action RPG, and this year’s game looks to improve on its predecessors in gameplay mechanics, in-game events, and items.
The most jarring new feature of Diablo 4 for me was that it takes place in a shared online world, which means you will always see other players running about on their own quests.
But that shared world means world events that can occur anytime in the open world and can be completed solo or by groups for loot and rewards.
Loot itself has had an overhaul, as in previous Diablo games, you were often forced to farm for dozens of hours to find that one elusive weapon or armor piece you need to complete your build.
In Diablo 4, you can apply and remove certain modifiers more easily using gold and resources, letting you customize your Legendary gear with particular attributes that better suit your play style.
The other exciting innovation is the new evade mechanic, which has a five-second cooldown and is available to every class from the beginning.
By using the avoid button, you can dodge out of the way of incoming attacks, which will keep you alive when your health potions are running low.
Diablo 4 is a very different beast from previous games in the series, and the open beta was a big success, leading to a lot more hype for when the game releases on June 6.
