About this game

System Shock is a first-person shooter with survival horror elements developed by Nightdive Studios a full-fledged remake of the groundbreaking game of the same name from 1994, combining cult classic gameplay with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface, sounds, and music.

• You awaken from a six-month healing coma onboard the Citadel Station TriOptimum’s premier research facility they hired you in order to do a job, but you find a station full of horrifying monsters.
• The Stations AI has become self-aware SHODAN is her name, she has taken control of the Citadel and turned the crew into an army of cyborgs and mutants she now plans to do the same to earth. You must battle your way through the depths of the space station and stop her at all costs.
• Improve your skillset and adapt to your new environment, use your hacking abilities to jack into cyberspace, and possibly open other routes in the space station.

System Shock is an iconic game with much influence that still resonates. But the game did not age well with how its combat works. With the remake, we can see how, beneath that clunky oldness of the original, there is a great game which has ideas and themes which still resonate strongly.

It helps that the source material was ahead of its time. By paying the 1994 original the utmost respect–retaining core systems, quirks and all, while changing on peripheral aspects entirely for the better–Nightdive Studios has rebuilt a classic game into something significantly better.
