Fans of isometric action RPG games can’t miss Ravenswatch because it also adds rogue-like to the mix. You have several heroes to level up and use them in every randomly generated runs to get new gear and upgrades for next runs. Objective is to defeat the Nightmare of the world when you are ready and the story also includes references to all time tales and legends but with a dark fantasy twist. With a hand drawn art style game is also playable in coop for extra fun.
Ravenswatch is a top-down action game with roguelike elements, it’s playable solo or online with up to 4 players. There are 6 different heroes to play with unique abilities and over a hundred items and upgrades combined to find along a randomly generated map. The gameplay seems fun and the abilities are visually pleasant to watch. At the moment the game only has one map with a final boss but there are updates planned to bring more maps, enemies, heroes and abilities.
By the creators Curse of the Dead Gods, used to roguelike. This is Ravenswatch, a hack n slash with important roguelike elements that has just been released in early access on Steam, with an ambitious roadmap: a lot of content addition is already planned! But we already have enough for quite a few hours of gameplay. The gameplay is very nervous with a good dose of difficulty. You can play as several mythical heroes (pretty well done I think), customize your build, and the map is randomly generated. Very good replayability. Note that you can also play in co-op with up to 4 players, and that it’s very pleasant!
Bugs/crashes that will be quickly corrected according to the developers. It has some teething problems, but when you don’t have big money and early access is a way to finance your project, it’s understandable, especially if the game has serious assets like Ravenswatch. To be continued, big potential in my opinion.
An early access title from the developers of 2021’s Curse of the Dead Gods, Passtech Games is now releasing an early access title thanks to the publishing company Nacon with Ravenswatch, an hero based roguelike action adventure with a top down view.
In Ravenswatch we’ll take role of various fairy tale and legendary figures of old and ancient time, now banding together to defend the realm of Revierie, threatened by The NIghtmare, an external and evil force that is corrupting everything in his path. Divided into 5 days chapters, in each chapter over the course of those 5 days with a night and day cycle the players, either alone or in a group of up to 4, will have to defeat enemies in their path, enemies spread through the roads or even in encampments, getting stronger in the process, a strenght necessary to defeat the end of chapter boss which will appear after the 5th day.
With a cast of 6 unique heroes (which will get further expansion), comprising of Scarlet (Red Hood), Bowulf, Aladdin, Pied Piper, Snow Queen and Melusine (a Siren), each with their own unique abilities and gameplay mechanics, some being able to change style during the night and day cycle, some getting buff and other being able to help and buff allies.
A rather unique dark-fantasy comprising of some of the classic tragic heroes and heroines of fairy tales and legends, a game being able to make a strong impression thanks to these unique characters, comic-like visuals and a compelling gameplay.
But as an early access title, there’s still very little content: just a single chapter which will cover about 3-4 hours of gameplay the first time, much less in subsequent playthrough as you’d want to try those different characters. That combined with an hefty pricetag of 20€, it’s a hard sell. The dev have currently pushed a roadmap, which seems a bit generalistic, but if they manage to keep up with it and pump content and iron out those bugs, and if found at a good price (like for 12€), it could definitely be a good title to suggest to play with your friends. My advice is thus wait at least until the next big update and for it to go for below 15€.
