MotoGP 23 is the next installment on the famous motorbike racing franchise. The will have a career mode where you can climb the ranks, change teams and improve your bike. One new feature is the dynamic weather that can make races a bit more unpredictable and reward you for changing your bike at the most appropriate moment. The rider can be customized with different cosmetics and there is an online mode where you can show-off against the competition.
After 14 months of development, with a slight delay, finally Moto GP 23 is going to be released soon on the 8th of June. Theoretically bringing a pletora of new addition, but something that in actuality change very little from the previous entry.
A popular feature that has been implemented in many sport title is the new Carrier Mode, where we’ll be able to create a new pilot and rise to the glory, by ranking up and moving up the ladder through the various Moto divisions. Not only that, but we’ll also be able to customize a team, including its member, and the bike itself. Finally we can also control in a manager-like experience the social life of our biker, making him not only a champion in the tracks but also in people’s heart.
On top of the 2023 Championship, which obviously include not only Moto GP but also Moto 2 and 3, an interesting extra is the 2009 Championship, divided into 17 chapter, where we’ll be able to relive this amazing year full of surprises, through the eyes of the various riders.
As far as gameplay goes things have improved just a bit from 22, with a tweaked but still rather rigid and punishing “smoothness” of the driving, which is also accentuated by the newly implemented Neural AI assistance, something that in theory should help newcomers but as some of the people who played the preview it seems to force the player into a single “right” way to take on the courses, hindering more advanced players, hopefully Milestone is able to address it before the release or at least fix in the near future. On top of that new dynamic weather appear in Moto GP 23, along with a few visual tweaks to the biker response to the driving (now pressing pedals and moving his feet accordingly).
Visually nothing major on that front, with a very subtle upgrade, which does make it looks quite dated as opposed to other race-sim experience out there. All in all a meager update from Moto GP22, with a carrier mode more for the casual players much like most of the content, while still having a rather strict and unforgiving driving experience, driving per se is not bad but leaves very little room for errors and choices despite the rewind feature. While it may not seems that impressive, the actual price on keyshops at just 10€ more than the previous installment, make it quite compelling given the new features and updates that the new entry lead to and in theory there shouldn’t be any issue on performance given the very small update to the previous experience.
