It’s a pretty generic game, a sci-fi shooter focused on PvP (PvE is good if you want a tutorial), it’s playable even if there are some stability issues, but the game is really nothing special…
There are some positive aspects, in terms of mobility: the overboard and the speed of the gameplay, with the grappling hook in particular. But on the ground, it’s rather soft, slow, a bit like Battlefield. The maps are well thought out, the PvP is fluid and functional.
I don’t recommend it at full price, but thanks to the comparator you can already find it for 10€.
Sci-fi FPS that makes the same mistake I’ve seen many times, where they ask money for an indie game that is as good or less good as the free FPS’s from AAA developers. Because of the price tag and a lack of marketing, there are simply not enough players, so the game is dead on arrival. Few people will buy the game with so few players and with few people buying the game, it will have mostly empty lobbies.
This is unfortunate, because the gameplay itself is good, even though the game is very buggy and poorly optimized.
In LEAP, you will be able to participate in intense multiplayer online first-person shooter battles with up to 40 players, all armed to the teeth with their own arsenals of weapons. Become an elite LEAP mercenary by conquering the battlefield. Side with the United Earth Defence Coalition (UEDC) or the ex-terrestrial rebels! Whoever pays the most will secure your trigger-happy and immense arsenal.
Leap is a newly released game by Blue Isle Studios a team mostly known for Slender The Arrival, although not completely inexperienced in the fps genre with their later titles, both being action fps.
Leap is pvp sci-fi fps shooter with 2 main game modes, Special Operations where you can play with other players up to 4 total players, where you have to fight off waves of AI controlled enemies. While PVP has 5 game modes, Team Annihilation (the classic team deathmatch), Capture the Core (just capture the flag), Control (where you have to capture objectives),Stopping Ground (similar to Control but with moving objectives) and Asset Assassination (where you have to kill the enemy team indicated special player). So very simple but popular enough game modes. The games has also a class system, 4 classes in total each with different weapon classes and abilities and a fairly standard gameplay a lot similar to Planetside 2 with the addition of a grappling hook for faster travel and a hoover board to travel faster, on top of vehicles depending on the map.
Unfortunately the game is a bit of a mess as of now, with the need to be always online to join servers, as not being able to create private matches with friends, very low playerbase due to the high price tag (24,99€) from a relatively small studio and honestly nothing innovative yet failing to offer a solid experience with some technical issues on matchmaking and some performance issues on top of bugs, ruining the experience.
Currently is at 50% off but I’d say to wait a bit more as the playerbase is not very active nor a good amount to manage to fill those up 60 players map. I’d say wait a bit and see if things start turn for the better or the game goes f2p, since it already has cosmetics store system with ingame currency which would only need a minor rework for a f2p.
LEAP is an online sci-fi first person shooter with mixed reviews on Steam at the moment. It features fast-paced gunplay and different vehicles to move around the battlefield, graphically and gameplay-wise this game looks very good but according to some players there are many bugs, inconsistencies and the player base is almost nonexistent so finding a match can be difficult. The game is still in early access so maybe with time it grows to be popular.
