EA Sports UFC 5 is in a pretty good place now: the striking reads cleaner, the damage/cut system adds tension without turning every fight into a coin flip, and a lot of the worst “cheese” has been toned down through updates and stamina tuning. The steady stream of fighters and alter egos helps too, so it’s easy to jump in for a few matches and keep it fresh without overthinking it.
EA Sports UFC 5 offers a truly revamped experience this time around, thanks in particular to two components: the switch to the Frostbite engine, which makes the game graphically and technically impressive, and the injury system that impacts the fighter's performance. The basic content isn't incredible, but we love the atmosphere, the replays, and the gameplay is convincing.
