Assassin’s Creed Shadows works because it gives you two very different ways to play without making either one feel pointless. Sneaking around as Naoe is genuinely fun when you’re picking routes, using tools, and keeping things quiet, and then Yasuke is there for the times you just want to walk through the front door and end the fight fast. The Japan setting also does a lot of heavy lifting, it’s easy to get distracted just moving through it.
Are you more stealthy, agile, and discreet? Or quick to draw your sword like a true samurai? In AC: Shadows, you will follow the story of two characters with completely opposite traits. Despite the delay, this game still has some flaws, such as duplicate locations and an open world that struggles to convince. But the shinobi gameplay is top-notch, in keeping with the spirit of AC, and the Japanese atmosphere is convincing!
Assassin's Creed is a very long saga of games, that it quite lost the track of its own central plot with the animus machines but anyway, what is important is that each one of the games takes us to play an historical period of our history and this time is the turn of feudal Japan.
