Taking us on a journey through the Dutch golden age, 1666: Amsterdam explores a dark supernatural setting where demonic entities hide among humans. Dual protagonists, investigation, combat, this game has a very interesting premise and good potential regarding gameplay and story. Sadly it's still a long way from delivering a solid experience, the early access model makes sense here, 1666 Amsterdam still lacks content but most of all, lots of polish in the already present systems.
1666: Amsterdam really impressed me with its dark historical setting. The atmosphere is well done and the game presents Amsterdam in a unique and interesting way. I had a great time playing it and honestly think this title deserves more attention. A solid recommendation for anyone who enjoys historical action games.
This 1666: Amsterdam has huge potential. The historical setting with demons and witchcraft, paying homage to the night and its darkest depths—I love it. But there are quite a few issues with the Early Access version. Movement feels clunky, you get stuck on textures, combat is repetitive, spells take forever to cast, searching through furniture is way too tedious, and there are problems with controller mapping and the menus... In short, it gets repetitive and tedious—which is a shame.
This dark fantasy game is still in early access, and like many titles at this stage, it requires some improvement. Nevertheless, 1666: Amsterdam is a nice story-rich experience if you can tolerate some flaws, somewhat clunky movements, and animations. Overall, the ambiance is great, and with a few adjustments it can be really captivating.
1666 Amsterdam is the dream project by Assassins creator and it looks very cool. This is also a 3rd person adventure and you are Noa, a demon collector with magical powers that during the day has to investigate and find these ‘originals’ beings and hide her real identity. At night time she can go and hunt them using what she learnt, as they are powerful monsters. Also she can use a cat, that is a summoned guy from 1999. The magical aura around the story and the plot makes me eager to play it
