Aeta, a young knight errant, faces the harsh world of late medieval Italy to rescue her beloved Bianca. She has to confront perilous enemies and severe circumstances during her journey. This cinematic third-person journey is inspired by traditional chivalric legends to narrate a tale of devotion and selflessness.
1348 Ex Voto starts with a wealth of potential, and unfortunately, manages to squander it at every turn, creating a hollow, rage-inducing, and disappointing experience, with its beautiful depiction of Italy and talented performers being its only saving graces.
Despite awful PC performance dragging down the gorgeous visuals, 1348 Ex Voto excels at offering satisfying sword combat in an enjoyable, bite-sized adventure. However, as a whole package, it wasn’t able to keep me invested in a story that I would otherwise love had there been more time spent developing its central relationship.
All in all, I must admit that I didn’t really enjoy 1348: Ex Voto. The game often feels as if it is actively working against the player, rather than inviting them into the experience. The lack of settings, the uneven sound balance and the rather monotonous gameplay make it all feel more frustrating than engaging.
The 1348 Ex Voto Deluxe Edition brings together the base game plus its artbook.

1348 Ex Voto is a game to be commended for its sombre, sombre tone and its exploration of a very specific and rarely explored historical context: the Black Death. You play as Aeta, a female knight in the year 1348. The game naturally involves cross-swords, but action is not the main focus. If you’re interested, bear in mind that the narrative and the dramatic medieval atmosphere are the game’s main attractions, along with everything surrounding the issues linked to the Black Death.
I've tried the demo roughly a month before the release and it was a disappointment. Combat didn't feel satisfying at all and the moveset was too basic. I expected something akin to the Hellblade games when it comes to combat but this doesn't feel nearly as polished, sure Hellblade combat is shallow but at least it can be satisfying and smooth, which doesn't happen in this one. I have no idea about the quality of this game's story but have my doubts that's the saving grace.
Another massive flop. While 1348: Ex Voto has a great atmosphere, it’s currently being slammed for feeling like an unfinished alpha. The combat is incredibly clunky, the gameplay seems repetitive, the AI is brain-dead, and the PC performance is a stuttering mess even on high-end rigs. Honestly, it’s a pass. It feels like it was shoved out the door way too early, like you can see in the "mixed" reviews on Steam.
1348 Ex Voto is one of my most awaited games, I love medieval adventures and this one looks incredibly good. Set in Italy we will play as Aeta, a young errant knight that will start a journey to find her kidnapped friend Bianca. The game is pretty much linear with cool cinematics, well choreographed sword fights and some minor puzzles. What really sets it apart is the medieval atmosphere, the graphics and the voice acting so I can't wait to get immersed in this one.
