OCTOBER 16 PART 1

New MMORPG Ember Sword Announced

Couch Studios is releasing a new MMORPG called Ember Sword. The combat system will be like Ultima Online or Runescape, it will have an open-world PVP as well as an economy. Also, the cross-platform play was announced for the game and it will be for the desktop client and the mobile version. Another thing that would set this apart from the others is the removal of the pay-to-win mechanics but they would have a monthly subscription and marketplace fees. No release date is available at this time.


PS4 Consoles Affected By Possible Glitch

A possible glitch has hit PlayStation 4 consoles where owners receive a message which when viewed would freeze the console and force the owner to do a factory reset to get it working again. Numerous owners went on Reddit to report their experience and noticed that the only way not to be affected by the glitch is to have your messages on the PS4 set on private. The mysterious message cannot be deleted even if you use your phone to do so. No official word has been given by Sony about the issue as of yet.


Sudden Strike 4 Gets New Chapter with New Missions

The new chapter for Kalypso Media’s World War II strategy game Sudden Strike 4 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The new chapter is called Africa – Desert War and it is based on the battles that took place in North Africa during World War II. This adds 2 new mini-campaigns with a total of six new missions for single-player. On top of these new campaigns, players can also choose from five different doctrine commanders to lead in battle.


Crusader Kings 2 Holy Fury Expansion Launches on PC Next Month

The newest expansion for Crusader Kings 2 will be launching for PC next month and it is called Holy Fury. The expansion is religion-focused having religious interactions and crusading portions emphasized in the game. There will be sainthood, coronations, legendary bloodlines that are able to give the descendants some special bonuses. Pagan warriors are also able to create lodges that can grow in rank as long as they do more raids. The Crusader Kings 2 Holy Fury is set to launch on November 13th.


The Predator Mod for GTA 5 Has Been Released

The final version of the GTA online mod that brings The Predator in the game has finally been released. JulioNiB’s mod will now let players wreak havoc in the game as the iconic monster and hunt preys to their hearts’ content. The mod allows players to use Cloak mode, hand blades, Shadow Cannon, remove skin feature, and much more. This mod is not free, though.


Total War Warhammer 2 Gets Original Lord for Its Vampire Coast Expansion

Total War Warhammer 2’s Curse of the Vampire Coast will feature four legendary lords that will be joining the fray, and one of them is an original creation – Cylostra Direfin. Direfin is a Bretonnian opera singer who used to sing in the court of kings. She later emerged as a specter of the deep after getting killed at sea. She is joined by vampire lord Luthor Harkon, Dreadfleet commander Count Noctilus, and Sartosa’s Aranessa Saltspite. The Curse of the Vampire Coast DLC launches November 8th.


Old School Shooter Project Warlock Heads to GOG This Month

Project Warlock is coming to GOG on October 18th and it is giving homage to 90’s shooters. Of course with modern technology, this is more fluid and more polished even having great effects and epic boss fights. It is a very modern day game but gives the exact amount of homage to the shooters of the past. It is for now a GOG timed exclusive so we can expect the game to be available in other stores soon. The animation is impressive, having five worlds, sixty levels and almost 40 weapons to choose from.


New Game Modes Might Be Coming to Fortnite’s Tournaments Tab

Dataminers discovered what appears to be new modes coming to Fortnite’s tournaments tab. These were also accidentally revealed in a developer video Epic released last week. The tournament tab contains links to squad, duos, and solo tournaments. The first solo and duo tournaments will begin October 27th and 28th respectively, while the squad tournament will take place every Friday. A shiny new pin will be awarded to players who acquire enough points in the tournament.


Black Ops 4 Gets Update for Blackout, Zombies, and Multiplayer

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 has received its first update and it brings tweaks and fixes to the three main modes of the game: Blackout, Multiplayer, and Zombies. The Zombies mode will get bulk of these in the form of a balance pass. This update will increase the player’s health for Casual, Normal, and Hardcore difficulty by 50 points. It will also change how fast players earn points. Pre-requisites to unlock active ammo for signature weapons were also changed. Dying Light 2 Will Feature New Parkour Moves for Combat

The sequel to 2015’s Dying Light was announced and it was said to have strong role-playing elements as well as some parkour based gameplay. Techland has announced that they will be doubling the parkour moves in the game and tying it up with the game’s combat. Dying Light 2 is set in the ‘Modern Dark Ages’ where resources are scarce and the only available technology are the ones that were left running after everything that has happened. The devs are trying to finish the game by 2019 but is not promised.


Dragon Quest 11 Version 1.01 Update Detailed

Dragon Quest 11 has received its 1.01 update on Steam and Playstation 4. this update adds improvements to the game across both platforms, with players on PC seeing the most changes. One of the fixes include a fix to a bug that sometimes causes the game to crash when a player is 300 meters away from his horse. It also includes the feature to send log data to the Dragon Quest team when they encounter game crashes. You can view other inclusions in this update from the game’s Steam page.

Murder, Mystery, and Spooks Await in Festival of the Lost

Halloween is coming to Destiny 2 with the Festival of the Lost event! It kicks off this week, and it brings Halloween-themed loots and events, as well as goofy masks. The event comes with a spooky gameplay called Haunted Forest, where randomized enemies await players. There is also a story-based quest line that will require players to solve the murder of Master Ives. The festival kicks off October 16th with all these plus more awesome events and updates.


Black Ops 4 Sells Well Online

It appears that Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is off to a strong start! Publisher Activision said that the game has strong sales numbers in its digital form. The company said Black Ops 4 had the strongest day one digital sales on all platforms in Activision’s history – stronger sales than Destiny 2 which also had a strong launch day, and far better than Call of Duty World War II. The company did not provide any specific numbers, though.


Hand of Fate 2’s The Servant and the Beast DLC Now Available

Defiant Development’s Hand of Fate 2’s The Servant and The Beast DLC is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will be released for the Nintendo Switch very soon. This new expansion will add a new campaign challenge as well as a companion character to the game which is the Veles Shadow Beast. Hand of Fate 2’s The Servant and The Beast DLC is available for £4.99. It does arrive with a free content update called the Combat Reforged and it offers an overhaul for the game’s battle system.


Disgaea 5 PC Launch Set Next Week

After quite a mess of a beta period, NIS America has announced that Disgaea 5 Complete will be launching on PC via Steam. The game will be available starting October 22nd. A special demo for the game is also available for players who have an Alienware Arena account. If you don’t have one, you can sign up in the Alienware Arena website. Disgaea 5 Complete includes the full Disgaea 5 story with 8 bonus scenarios, four fan-favorite characters, and 3 character classes from the series.


PUBG Still Doing Well Despite Blackout Release

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 recently released along with its battle royale mode Blackout. The release, however, did not directly affect PUBG’s Steam player count as GitHyp reports that the game only had a 4% drop as Black Ops 4 launched over the weekend. The launch of Black Ops marked the game as the most-watched on Twitch with the help of streamers Ninja and Dr Disrespect. The game was also able to reach a major feat being Activision’s biggest ever digital launch, setting a record for global sales.


Fortnite Update 6.10 Release Confirmed

Fortnite’s update 6.10 is coming, and Epic Games announced on Twitter when eager players can expect the new patch. According to Epic, the servers will be on downtime starting 4 AM ET /1 AM PT on Tuesday, October 16th. The patch notes are yet to be released, and we can expect to see it during the game’s downtime. This update is expected to bring new in-game tournaments as well as the new Quadcrusher vehicle. As for the gifting system, we’d have to wait until the patch notes is released to confirm if it’s included.


Red Dead Redemption 2’s Story is 60 Hours Long

Rockstar announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be having an impressive 60-hour long main story having a huge cast of characters with 500,000 lines of dialogue as well as 300,000 animations in between. This means that there were around 1,200 actors hired! 500 of which were used for the motion capture that lasted for about six years and 700 were recording dialogue. The studio co-founder Dan Houser said that they have chosen the actors with unrecognizable voices for better immersion.


Diablo 3 is Getting a Switch Bundle

Diablo 3 is heading to the Nintendo Switch next month, and if you’re one of those who do not own the console yet but want to play the game, here’s a bit of good news. Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3: Eternal Collection will be bundled with the Nintendo Switch, which means you get a free copy of the game if you buy the console. This bundle launches alongside the game on November 2nd. The game comes with the base campaign plus all of its additional content to date.


Corpse Party Series Heading to PC Soon

Xseed is bringing back the Corpse Party series and it will be reintroducing some entries to the PC that were Sony exclusives. PC players will now be able to play the Book of Shadows and Blood Drive plus Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash and Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient will be coming to players in the West. Corpse Party 2: Dead Patient is a new entry to game’s series. It has a standalone story that newcomers can surely enjoy. These will be released episodically starting on October 29.


Elite Dangerous’ Beyond Beta Announced

Elite Dangerous will be getting its biggest update later this month. A beta for its final chapter called Beyond – Chapter 4 will also be taking place starting October 30th. This beta will be available to all players who own Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons on PC. Chapter 4 will introduce Squadrons to multiplayer, including a new in-game chat channel. Players will also see improvements in mining and more in this chapter.


National Videogame Museum Opens in the UK

The National Videogame Museum will be opening in the United Kingdom this coming November. This will be the very first permanent museum for video games and it will be located in Sheffield, England and it is the “third episode” of the National Videogame Arcade. The museum plans to have lots of playable consoles as well as arcade machines, some innovative exhibitions of studios as well as games and how they are made. Plans of cultural festivals, clubs, and many other events are in development as well.
