Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom Brings a New Chapter to Lordaeron
BlizzCon 2026 carried a bunch of great news and a few surprises fitting for a major gaming event which has now passed over two decades. One of the highlights was Warcraft 3 Reforged’s newest expansion, Forsaken Kingdom. Yep, Blizzard hasn’t forgotten the game and has been secretly cooking something for the fans somewhere between those 23 years of not having new content in the game.
The expansion takes place between Warcraft III and World of Warcraft, following the rise of the Forsaken and their efforts to establish themselves beneath the ruins of their former kingdom. Sylvanas Windrunner plays a major role, alongside both new and familiar characters.
Reforged may not have the best score in the community but this expansion is going to try to turn things around. Well somehow, since it removed LAN support and offline play to everyone’s dismay.
The Fall of Lordaeron and The Rise of the Forsaken
The campaign opens with a prologue called Last Days of Lordaeron, putting players in control of the kingdom’s guards during its final days. Familiar locations such as Lordaeron’s capital, Andorhal, Stratholme, and the sewers that eventually become the Undercity all featured in the story.
The main campaign then shifts to the newly formed Forsaken as they break away from the Scourge and begin building their new home.
The expansion takes some inspiration from The Frozen Throne’s Rexxar campaign in terms of more freedom to explore, develop heroes, collect equipment, and progress through the story.
Forsaken Kingdom also adds a new neutral hero, the Forsaken Paladin. The hero joins the multiplayer roster and is also tied to the campaign, giving the new hero a place within the wider story rather than simply adding another unit to the roster.
Connecting Warcraft III to World of Warcraft
The expansion’s biggest purpose is filling in the gap between Warcraft III and World of Warcraft.
It explores how the Forsaken established themselves and how the Undercity came to be, while setting up the next era of Warcraft. Its events also connect to the World of Warcraft: Forever storyline.
Warcraft III Reforged Forsaken Kingdom is out right now on the Battle.net shop. You can buy it as a standalone upgrade to your current Reforged client, pick up the Combo version, or grab the limited-time Warcraft Forever Collection.
