The wait for the next open-world pirate adventure is almost over. After climbing wishlist charts and pulling in a huge community of eager players, the highly anticipated pirate RPG Windrose is dropping anchor very soon. With launch timing and pricing now confirmed, there’s a lot to look forward to as release day gets closer.
Windrose Early Access Launch Details
Remember that pirate game that hit 1 million wishlists and then quickly shot up to 1.5 million? Yes, that is about to release in Early Access in just two days. As revealed during the Triple-i Initiative, Windrose will set sail on April 14, 2026, for PC on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Since launch is right around the corner, the development team has confirmed the exact unlock times. You can hit the waters at 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM GMT.
The base game is priced at $29.99, while a $39.99 Supporter Bundle is available too if you want the official soundtrack and a few exclusive wallpapers. There is no word on a launch discount yet, but we are still hoping one pops up.
If you’re curious about what the hype is, the Steam demo is available right now. It offers a focused early slice of the game with around 4–6 hours of gameplay, and even more if you take things slow. There’s no time limit, so you can explore at your own pace.
In the demo, you’ll visit the first three islands of the Archipelago, take on early quests, and command your first ship with naval combat and boarding. It also introduces core systems like weapons, enemies, and survival mechanics. Co-op is supported through player-hosted sessions for up to four players, though dedicated servers aren’t included yet and will arrive with Early Access.
Any progress made during the demo will not carry over the first game. But to make testing it out rewarding, simply launching the demo earns you a decorative spyglass to customize your pirate base once Early Access begins.
Windrose officially launches on April 14, 2026, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The developers plan to keep the game in Early Access for roughly two years as they work toward the 1.0 release. During that time, they intend to double the game’s overall size by adding new biomes, bosses, ships, loot, and expanding the narrative. Once complete, the main storyline should offer around 50 to 70 hours of gameplay.
