Frontier Developments has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel, Planet Zoo 2, is in development and tentatively slated for a 2026 launch. This massive news dropped as part of the original game’s sixth anniversary celebrations.

Since Planet Zoo‘s release in 2019, Frontier Developments has expanded the game with over 20 DLC packs, launched it on consoles, and built a dedicated community ready for a long-awaited sequel.

Planet Zoo 2 is highly likely to be developed using an updated version of Frontier Developments’ own in-house Cobra engine. Most recently used to create Jurassic World Evolution 3, the engine can support multi-platform development, procedural generation, massive, shared worlds, and complex simulations, making it perfect for a Planet Zoo sequel.
