Battlefield 6 Open Beta – How to Play This Week and Get Early Access
With August 4, 2025, marking the start of the pre-load for the Beta, this week will host the First Open Beta for Battlefield 6. The anticipated shooter from DICE and EA will be free-to-play on PC via the EA App, Epic Games, and Steam. As well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Specifically from:
- Early Access from August 7, 2025, at 1:00 AM PT / 4:00 AM ET / 10:00 AM CEST
- August 9, 2025, at 1:00 AM PT / 4:00 AM ET / 10:00 AM CEST for everyone
You won’t need the EA App on PC, but you will need to link your EA account at login. It will be possible to play starting from Thursday for those who were members of Battlefield Labs before July 31. Battlefield 6 Open Beta: PC Performance and Fixes for Nvidia and AMD
With the BF6 Beta just around the corner, a hotly debated topic is the game’s performance. With system requirements that are pretty reasonable on PC. Requiring, as minimum specs for 30fps at 1080p, cards with 6GB of VRAM like the: RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT, or Arc A380. Interesting GPU requirements given the performance discrepancy between Intel’s solutions versus AMD and Nvidia.
Adding to this is Intel’s confirmation as the official partner of BF6. This confirms optimization for Arc and Battlemage. But also suggests “conservative” performance estimates from EA. With many users already having checked the game options and settings, noticing (in the settings menu) a VRAM usage well below 6GB with the Balanced preset at 1080p.
An interesting note, however, is that the BF6 Beta requires updated drivers, particularly affecting Nvidia and AMD cards. Nvidia requires at least driver 576.88, with the latest version 580.88 from August 3. Meanwhile, users with Radeon cards will have to update their drivers to the new Adrenalin 25.8.1 version from August 4. On top of that, you’ll need to have Secure Boot enabled on your system.

BF6: Console Performance and the Latest News
We also have news on the kind of performance we can expect on Console. This news comes from Florian Le Bihan, a Game Designer at DICE. He guarantees a minimum of 60 FPS on PS5, Xbox Series X, and Series S. He also confirmed higher framerates in performance mode for PS5 and Series X. Meanwhile, it’s speculated that the PS5 Pro will see the same benefits but with a smaller visual impact thanks to PSSR.
Among the latest news, we also have confirmation of mouse and keyboard support on Console. This will certainly help with cross-platform matchmaking at launch. Additionally, Intel’s XeSS 2.0 is confirmed for launch, and we might also see XeLL as Intel’s Frame Gen solution in the future.
