Witchfire: Webgrave Update is Finally Here

As revealed in the Dev Diary on 9 July, the much-anticipated Webgrave Update is finally live in Witchfire. The dark fantasy roguelike FPS experience from The Astronauts. The awaited Early Access update has been available since 28 July 2025 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The launch comes with an official trailer for the biggest update ever. It takes us to the new region of Velmorne, afflicted by the Witch’s curse. New fierce enemies are waiting for us. But there are also some new goodies for the Preyer with a rework of some game systems.

What’s New in the Webgrave Update?

As mentioned, Webgrave is shaping up to be the biggest update for The Astronauts’ title in Early Access. It’s not just bringing a new region to explore, but also a major rework of some mechanics. Specifically, we’ve got:

  • Velmorne and the Rosary: A new game region to explore, where the Witch’s magic has corrupted the inhabitants. This comes with the introduction of the new Rosary passive perk system.
  • New Weapons and Prologue: In addition to 3 new weapons, the The Oracle sniper, the The Nemesis lever-action rifle. And the The Koschei magic rifle. Plus, a new introductory Prologue for the story.
  • Changes to Workshop, Stats, and Gnosis: A huge rework of the stats and perk system with the introduction of the Rosary. Including balance reworks, but also a clearer, more RPG-like stats system.

The team is thanking fans for the pretty positive feedback on the update, though not without some criticism. They’ve released Hotfix 0.7.1, with a bunch of fixes and balancing tweaks based directly on player feedback. It also came with a mini-FAQ about what’s next for Witchfire fans.
