There’s a specific kind of magic in landing a perfect juggle combo while your friends watch the chaos unfold. Towerborne captures that classic arcade brawler energy perfectly, but it’s about to undergo a massive transformation.
After months of tweaking and testing, Stoic’s action RPG is officially leaving Early Access behind.
Trading Microtransactions for a Full Package
The biggest shocker for version 1.0 isn’t just new content. Stoic made the bold choice to ditch the free-to-play, live-service model entirely. Towerborne is now a standalone premium experience, though it naturally stays day-one on Xbox Game Pass.
This means the tedious grind for premium currency is completely dead. Every single cosmetic, emote, and weapon skin is now earned naturally by just playing the game.
Earning “Writs” through tough bounties feels incredibly rewarding when you know it’s the only way to get that shiny new armor set. Plus, the always-online requirement is gone. You can take your Belfry warriors completely offline, making it a perfect couch co-op staple.
Towerborne's Full Game Update goes live Thursday, February 26th at 10:00 AM PST.

To prepare for launch, we'll be taking the Early Access servers down on Wednesday the 25th at 10:00 AM PST – so this is your last chance to spend your Belfry Bucks before the world of Eld changes… pic.twitter.com/qGSFouHIhk
Cutting the Fluff for a Better Story
During Early Access, staring at a giant hex map full of repetitive discovery missions got old fast. The development team listened and entirely scrapped the randomized map progression.
Instead, version 1.0 delivers a focused, 15-hour story campaign. You’ll blast through over 50 hand-crafted missions, dealing with 25 lieutenants and massive bosses.
The pacing is much tighter, keeping the momentum going without forcing you to grind random grass tiles just to advance the plot. If you do want to test your limits, the new Bounty Board at the Belfry handles the extra challenges. It holds over 100 unique combat scenarios perfect for leveling up specific classes.

Respecting Your Time at the Forge
Loot drops in action RPGs can easily become a frustrating chore. Getting an amazing weapon for a class you don’t even play is the absolute worst feeling.
Towerborne 1.0 revamps the Forge to eliminate that hopelessness. Systems like Fuse, Refine, and Reforge let you break down unwanted trash into the exact gear you actually need.
You can even craft Legendaries if you put in the work. On top of that, there’s no limit to how many legendary items you can equip at once. You’re free to break the game with wild, overpowered builds just for the fun of it.
The Belfry is Ready for Defense
Towerborne releasing as a complete, premium package is exactly what the brawler genre needed right now. It drops the exhausting live-service baggage to focus purely on fun, fast, and flashy combat.
With cross-platform co-op, deep build variety, and a massive campaign, grabbing your favorite weapon and saving the City of Numbers has never felt better.
The real fight begins on February 26th!
