The Mind as a Battlefield
Just two weeks ahead of its PC launch, a new features trailer for Zero Parades: For Dead Spies breaks down the harsh realities of psychological espionage.
The footage highlights how operant skills, narrative events, and mental conditioning intertwine. It is a system designed to make the invisible pressures of fieldwork entirely visible.
Siim “Kosmos” Sinamäe, principal writer and a former author on Disco Elysium, emphasizes this design philosophy. “Very often storytelling in video games only exists to justify the gameplay,” Sinamäe states. “We design features to elevate the story.”

How Do Skills and Stress Work in Zero Parades?
In Zero Parades, players select from three character archetypes and utilize 15 unique skills across action, relationship, and intellect categories.
The gameplay revolves around balancing three continuous psychological pressures—Fatigue, Anxiety, and Delirium—where pushing mental limits increases success chances and the risk of collapse.
This constant balancing act ensures that maintaining a perfectly healthy state on the field is nearly impossible. Sometimes, taking psychological damage is the only tactical path forward.
Through a mechanic called exertion, operatives can deliberately increase these internal pressures. This high-risk strategy boosts the probability of passing difficult skill checks but threatens Hershel’s mental state.

Reshaping Beliefs on the Fly
Beyond immediate stress management, the game introduces a deep Conditioning system. This allows players to actively reshape, reinforce, or regress Hershel’s inner belief system as the narrative unfolds.
Every failure and dramatic encounter leaves a permanent mark. Whether you reconstruct the old crew, save your companions, or burn everything down, the consequences are strictly binding.
While official storefront markups are yet to be finalized, fans of heavy narrative RPGs can expect a premium experience—theorized to be under €40.
