Xbox Game Pass Just Got Its Monster Drop Of Activision Games!
Xbox Game Pass drops 60 classic Activision games in the new Retro Classics app, available now for all tiers via cloud streaming.
Ever since Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision, fans have been watching and waiting for the moment the publisher’s deep catalog would land on Xbox Game Pass. The anticipation has been so high that every delay or vague announcement sparked new speculation that this must be the big Activision drop.
Now that moment has arrived, and it’s bigger and bolder than expected. Rather than a quiet rollout, Xbox has unveiled Retro Classics, a brand-new app that packages 60 retro Activision games into one slick, nostalgia-loaded platform.
Xbox Game Pass Retro Classics Available For All Tiers
Microsoft has officially announced Retro Classics, a curated collection of 60 classic Activision titles from the 1980s and 1990s, now available to all Xbox Game Pass members. This launch is in partnership with Antstream Arcade who is a specialist in cloud-streamed retro games.
The collection spans numerous platforms including Atari 2600, Commodore 64, Amiga, and even the original PlayStation where Mechwarrior 2 stands as the sole title representing Sony’s first console. Seeing a PlayStation game officially highlighted on Xbox hardware underscores the scope of Microsoft’s game preservation efforts.
Microsoft promises that the library will grow over time to include more than 100 titles featuring additional classics from Activision. These games aren’t also just playable but they support Xbox Achievements. Players can dive into extras too like community challenges, competitive leaderboards, and high-score modes.
Retro Classics works across console, PC, and cloud-compatible devices, further reinforcing Xbox’s commitment to making games from every era accessible.

How To Access Retro Classics
Retro Classics is a cloud-based application. Even though it can be installed on Xbox Series X|S and PC, streaming remains the core method of play. To access the collection, you’ll need to be in a region that supports Xbox Cloud Gaming and, of course, have a stable strong internet connection.
Note too that this is a Game Pass-exclusive app. You cannot buy or download individual games or the app itself through the Microsoft Store. A current Xbox Game Pass subscription is required to access and play Retro Classics content.
Within the app, you’ll also find promotion for Antstream Arcad which offers a wider catalog of retro games under a separate subscription model. While integrated into the same app ecosystem, Antstream and Xbox Retro Classics remain separate services with distinct content libraries.
