Wreckreation is the new open-world sandbox racing title from Three Fields Entertainment (TFE) and published by THQ Nordic. A British development team founded in 2014 by former members of Criterion, primarily known for the Danger Zone series. In 2019, they released Dangerous Driving, expanding the ideas of Danger Zone into a larger world as a Sandbox.
Announcing the arrival of Dangerous Driving 2 in 2020, it was renamed at Gamescom 2022 as Wreckreation. As a true open-world racing experience similar to Burnout Paradise, but in a sandbox style. Wreckreation: Release Date and Price Announced
With the latest sneak peeks on the development of Wreckreation, the team at TFE and THQ Nordic finally bring important news. Revealing just on 16 September 2025 the launch date of the new spiritual heir to Burnout. With the open-world sandbox racing game set to debut on 28 October 2025.
Accompanied by the intense announcement trailer. Taking us into the sandbox world of MixWorld, with over 400 square kilometers of roads to drive on. A world of speed and freedom, accompanied by fun physics amidst explosions and destruction. But also the ability to create your own tracks and courses. Confirming the game’s arrival on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC and the price of $39.99 / €.
Wreckreation: What the New Spiritual Successor to Burnout Offers
A long-awaited launch for those who enjoyed Dangerous Driving. With Wreckreation seemingly bringing an open-world experience certainly inspired by Burnout Paradise. From some of the very members who worked on the Burnout series. With TFE’s new title offering in particular:
- Open World Experience: Bringing a true open world of a whopping $400km²$ (about 150 miles) for exploration, racing, and stunts. Offering tons of fun and above all, freedom, playing either solo or in co-op with your friends.
- Create Your World: What the team calls MixWorld. Where we can mix up our gaming experience with modes, creation, cars, and even music. You can build your own tracks and create game modes. Customize your cars and share your creations with the community. Also, set the time, weather, traffic, and much more with a click.
Launch is set for late October 2025, earlier than many fans had hoped for (at least by the end of the year). But it seems to come with the decision to cancel the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. These were confirmed by the team as recently as 1 August 2025, but are absent from the new trailer.
