If you want to explore the new Dragon Isles, reach the new level cap of 70, and play the new Dracthyr race, you will need to buy Dragonflight.
You can continue with Shadowlands and still play WoW as long as your subscription is active, and you will benefit from balance changes, new talent trees, and gameplay tweaks.
