Tokyo Xtreme Racer (TXR) is the arcade-style racing game from the Genki development team. A studio founded in 1990, known for the Kengo series as the spiritual successor to Bushido Blade and also Spectrobes. But it’s especially known for the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series, known in Japan as Shutokou Battle.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Official Launch Confirmed
Following a solid launch in Early Access at the start of 2025, the Genki team announces the official launch of Tokyo Xtreme Racer. The arcade-style racing experience and the series’ big return after almost 2 decades. Officially debuting this very month, on 25 September 2025 on Steam.
Accompanied by a message from the producer in which he thanks the community for the support received. Also confirming the increase in the game’s base price, but bringing numerous new additions including cars, parts, rivals, and story. As shown by the adrenaline-pumping teaser from late July, which also confirms the arrival of the Lexus RC F Performance Package.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer: What’s Coming with Version 1.0
TXR is gearing up for its long-awaited Official launch. Confirming the arrival of many new additions, with new rivals to challenge, but also the concluding chapter of the underground challenge. And of course, there’s no shortage of new cars and over 25 parts, with the cars including:
- Honda NSX Type S Zero / Honda CIVIC TYPE R / Honda INTEGRA TYPE R
- Lexus LC LC500 S Package / Lexus RC F Performance Package
- Nissan FAIRLADY Z Version ST / GT-R Premium Edition T-Spec / SKYLINE 2000GT-R
- Toyota GR YARIS RZ / CELSIOR C Specification F
The team confirms that the launch will not include the Replay Feature mode, but it will be added post-launch. The team also confirms the decision not to implement the “Steam Record Ranking” due to a lack of effective solutions to combat cheaters. The game will see a price increase with the official launch, going from 29.99 to 49.99 $/€.
