Mononoke no Kuni is the action RPG adventure in development by the team at Studio Lights. A Japanese development team from Shinjuku, known mainly for their lighting work on various Square Enix titles, particularly the Final Fantasy series. But also the more recent Death Stranding 2, Tribe Nine, and the Netflix series Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance.

Mononoke no Kuni Returns with a New Trailer and Release Window
After almost 2 years since the announcement of Mononoke no Kuni, the Studio Lights team brings some fantastic new updates. In fact, ahead of the Tokyo Game Show 2025, the team surprisingly dropped the new trailer for their adventure action RPG and debut title. The trailer arrives today, 18 September 2025, and is narrated by the voice of Kana Hanazawa.
Taking us back to the magical world of Mononoke in the shoes of the young Taiki. He is drawn into a fantastic journey in search of the relics of the Realm of Roots, which can save his beloved dog Musashi from a curse. Brought back to life by the young boy’s prayers as the canine deity Inubashira. Where mysteries, secrets, dangers, and also a difficult choice await him. Confirming a PC release for Fall 2026.
Mononoke no Kuni: The Latest News and Confirmation for TGS 2025
The Studio Lights team is therefore back with lots of news on their debut title. Confirming the game’s arrival on Steam for Q3 2026. The team also confirmed that more consistent updates will come in the next few months leading up to the launch. And a localization in a whopping 16 languages. With the fantastic new trailer, the team also confirms their live participation at the Tokyo Game Show 2025.
