Split Fiction on Switch 2 – A Co-op Revolution with Dual Worlds and GameChat Features
The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally launching tomorrow. This new Nintendo console comes with a lot of new power and, of course, several games available right at release. One of the new games for the Switch 2 is Split Fiction, the new title from Hazelight Studios, the developers of It Takes Two.
Split Fiction is a co-op adventure where you play together with a friend. You both take on the roles of two authors who get pulled into the stories of their own books. One of the books is sci-fi, the other leans more toward fantasy. The game features seamless transitions between the two, letting you control characters from different universes. Together, you must save the worlds in order to escape.
Split Fiction – Switch 2-Specific Features
The Nintendo Switch 2 introduces many new features. Some of these are perfect for games like Split Fiction, and naturally, they are being utilized here. For example, the new Joy-Con 2 controllers include optical sensors that allow them to be used like a computer mouse in certain games. If you place the Joy-Con horizontally, you can make precise mouse movements, which is especially useful for solving puzzles accurately.
Another new feature is GameChat, which is integrated into the Switch 2. The console includes voice and video chat capabilities. By pressing the “C” button on the Joy-Con 2, you can start or join a chat session with up to 12 friends. The console features a built-in microphone with noise suppression to ensure clear communication even in noisy environments.
For video chats, you can connect an optional USB-C camera that offers a wide-angle view and can be used in various gameplay modes. Additionally, you can share your screen so others can watch you play.
Of course, the Switch 2 also brings a significant graphics upgrade compared to the old Switch. Performance is dynamically adjusted based on the operating mode. In handheld mode, the console supports resolutions up to 1080p at 120 Hz, while in docked mode, you can enjoy 4K at 60 Hz. Thanks to a partnership with Nvidia, the console also features DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and ray tracing for more realistic graphics and enhanced performance.
