Skywind is one of the most well-known fan projects in the The Elder Scrolls universe. It was launched in 2012 as part of the TES Renewal initiative, aimed at bringing the classic TES titles to Skyrim. This project kicked off right after Bethesda released the Creation Kit in 2012, and has since seen strong community involvement.
Particularly with voice acting, giving life to around 3000 characters. It has also seen a jump to the updated Skyrim Special Edition. And 2025 marks an important year for the series, with the potential arrival of Skyblivion and the recent release of Oblivion Remastered. Skywind Shows Off in New Gameplay Demo of Rescue Joncis Dalomax
The 2025 year is definitely an important one for The Elder Scrolls series, with not only the Oblivion Remaster and Skyblivion taking center stage. Also adding to this is Skywind, the project bringing Morrowind back to Skyrim Special Edition. The team has released a new Gameplay Demo titled Rescue Joncis Dalomax.
A showcase that highlights the progress of the project. Featuring technical elements such as visual effects like weather conditions and lighting, as well as gameplay with various creatures and traps you’ll encounter. The gameplay kicks off in the Imperial Buckmoth Fort, taking us on a rescue mission through the Daedric ruins of Ashurnibibi.
Skywind: Progress Update
At the conclusion of the gameplay showcase, the Skywind team shared some progress updates. Here’s the latest progress since the last video release at the end of 2024:
- Art: 2D art completed with new additions in development. 3D creature art almost complete.
- Writing: Basic writing completed with improvements and extras under development.
- Coding: Spells and character creation, including UI, almost finished.
- Voice Acting: Character voice acting almost complete.
With Animation, Level Design, Quest Implementation, and VFX at excellent progress. However, there is still much work remaining for asset implementation, Navmesh, and Music. The team is looking for new volunteers to complete the project. It’s worth noting that the project requires both Morrowind GOTY and Skyrim Special Edition to run.
